About the artwork
This small abstract work in portrait format is an informal painting in mixed technique, made with different materials, such as white pigments, paper, some rust and charcoal, which are applied in layers, partly watery, partly impasto. This creates a very tactile surface. In the foreground of the picture is the gestural charcoal drawing, which appears very playful due to the strokes (sometimes firmly, sometimes delicately applied). The title “playful” refers to this.
The painting is framed in an oak shadow gap frame. The picture can easily be hung on the wall with two screws/plugs, but can also be placed on a sideboard or shelf due to the frame depth of 7 cm.
