About the artwork
The artwork “Multilayered” (Vielschichtig) is a collage of Chinese paper in landscape format, size 80x100x3cm, made on canvas. The ground of the painting contains thick layers of ash and pigment that have been covered with paper. Nevertheless, the structure of the ground is still clearly visible in the artwork. Above this are many light layers of paper, some of which are colored with white pigments to create a varied moving white on the painting. The glued-on pieces of paper, some of which appear coarse, consist of many layers of the fine Chinese paper that I have dyed and form a coherent, multi-layered composition.
This collage is framed in a white wooden shadow gap frame and can be hung on the wall immediately with two screws / dowels.
