About the work
The work is a collage of fine Chinese paper, which I colored in advance with coffee, white and copper pigments, and ink. After drying, I tore up these papers again and rearranged them in many layers to create the finished picture. The title “Maturity” refers on the one hand to the calm that this painting radiates and on the other hand to the dominant, rather round shape in the middle of the work, which reminds me of withdrawing, of retracting. And what do you do in a time of retreat or contemplation? One thinks, reflects, spins something new together, matures ….
