About the artwork
This abstract work is an informal painting created using mixed media, made with textural and varied materials such as rock powders—including marble powder and slate powder—as well as ash, rust, and pigments, which are layered on top of one another—some applied very thinly, others thickly with a brush or palette knife. This creates an overall very tactile surface and a dense texture. The title “Maintaining Confidence” refers to the colorfulness and drama in the painting. The blue tones, combined with the gray slate, the warm rust peeking through at the bottom edge of the painting, and the bright white, appear on the one hand very dramatic, yet at the same time serene—it’s almost paradoxical.
The painting is framed in a white wooden frame.
The painting can be easily hung on the wall using two screws and wall anchors.
