About the artwork
The artwork Zwischentöne Nr. 1 in the format 30x40x6cm is a mixed media painting on wood and part of the abstract painting series “Zwischentöne”. It can be stood upright or hung on edge. The idea behind the painting is based on the fact that nothing in life is really black and white. It is the “in-between” that makes everything interesting. You always have to listen to, see and feel the “in-between”. Then you understand the context. For the series, I dyed fine Chinese paper with black and white pigment and soluble coffee. This creates the subtle nuances in the shades of gray, black, brown and white. The hard white and the deep dark black are at the edge of the picture. And in between, all the “in-between tones” are artfully arranged.
The informal painting is framed in a black wooden frame. It can be hung on the wall or used as an object on a shelf.
