About the artwork
The artwork *Erdig No. 3*, measuring 40x30x6 cm, is a mixed-media painting on wood and part of the abstract painting series “Erdig.” During the creative process, I used exclusively earth pigments, such as stone powder and earths from Italy, France, Cyprus, and Germany. I also used ash, charcoal, rust (iron pigment), soot and bone pigments (the deep black pigment), and fine Chinese paper. The wooden panels are either painted or covered with paper I dyed myself.
I believe that in our digital age, where everyone is increasingly focused on screens, it is absolutely essential to immerse oneself in earth tones from time to time. The paintings are small and compact, yet they possess a powerful force that can strike the viewer to the core. This, I believe, corresponds to the need for nature and for “being outdoors”—a need that most of us sorely neglect.
