About the work
The work is a collage of fine Chinese paper that I colored in advance with coffee, white and carbon black pigments. After drying, I tore the paper and rearranged it to create the finished picture. I chose the title “Departure into the Unknown” because the colourfulness, the dynamics and the atmosphere in the picture make me think of a group of people who, despite adverse conditions, set out and dared something new.
