About the work
The work of art “Courage” is made on canvas and is an informal painting in mixed media (mixed media, different materials such as paper, pigment, rock powder were used). Material, surface and design language are in the foreground without resorting to learned patterns and shapes (such as a triangle or a square). The light background consists of rock powder and light pigments that are roughly applied to the painting surface. The structure of the pigments is rough. The black areas are painted with carbon pigment or filled with a spatula and partly also applied to paper and then collaged onto the picture afterwards. So are the blood-red drawings and surfaces that were almost entirely painted on paper.
The work is framed with a narrow black metal frame that was specially made by hand by a Munich blacksmith.
