About the artwork
The small work of art in the format 30x30x6cm is a collage of Chinese paper on wood. I colored all the papers in advance with blue and black pigments and coffee. The title “Counterpart” alludes to the different paper surfaces: One is deep blue, with a velvety feel. The blue color actually “bleeds” into cyan blue and appears cold and technical. The other surfaces impress with the warm, earthy feel that the coffee and black pigments give the paper. These surfaces together – so different in color and appearance – provide a strong contrast, but at the same time need each other to unfold their beauty.
“Counterpart No. 3” is the third work in the Counterparts series.
The picture is 6 cm deep and framed in a wooden shadow gap frame, which I painted black. Due to its depth, the artwork can also stand on a shelf or chest of drawers and does not necessarily have to be hung on the wall.
If you attach it to the wall, one or two screws / dowels are best. A sturdy nail is also possible.
