About the artwork
The small work of art in the format 40x30x2cm is a collage of Chinese paper on canvas. I colored all the papers in advance with blue and black pigments and coffee. The title “Counterpart” alludes to the different paper surfaces: One is deep blue, with a velvety feel. The blue color actually “bleeds” into cyan blue and appears cold and technical. The other surfaces impress with the warm, earthy feel that the coffee and black pigments give the paper. These surfaces together – so different in color and appearance – provide a strong contrast, but at the same time need each other to unfold their beauty.
“Counterpart No. 2” is the second work in the Counterparts series.
This smaller work of art is framed in a matt black metal shadow gap frame.
