About the artwork
This abstract work is an informal painting in mixed media technique, made with structuring and different materials, such as stone powder, marble powder and slate powder, but also ash, rust and pigments, which are applied in many layers, sometimes very watery, sometimes pasty with a brush or spatula. This creates a very tactile surface and material density overall. The blue tones in combination with the gray slate, the warm rust and the bright white have a very calming effect. Tension is created by the gestural black lines and the incisions in the material. The title refers to the effect of the painting, as you literally want to sink into it. The painting is framed in a narrow black metal frame; a white wooden frame is also possible.
The painting can be easily hung on the wall using two screws/plugs.
