About the artwork
This work is a collage of fine chinese papers that I have colored in very light blue, beige, black and gray tones, as well as with dissolved coffee. I glued the papers on top of each other in layers, because this creates an incredible depth to the image, even with the lighter tones. On the one hand, the title of the picture “breather” refers to the lightness that the picture conveys. One has the feeling of being able to breathe again. Secondly, however, also on the process of creation, because I really wanted to finish this work and was a few times close to it. But the picture would have turned out much too serious and dark for me – and I didn’t want that. Shortly decided and almost desperate I decollaged the picture after two days distance and doing nothing again, so all layers of paper tediously torn off and almost started again. Now I am very happy with the result, and after a real “breather”.
The collage can be framed in a white wooden shadow gap frame or in a narrow black metal frame.
