About the artwork
This abstract work is an informal painting created using mixed media, incorporating textural and varied materials such as ash, rust, rock powder, and pigments, which are layered upon one another and applied in a very watery consistency. This results in a highly tactile surface.
The painting is created using only ash, black soot pigment, rust, light gray slate powder, and white pigment. The black gestural drawings, applied with sweeping brushstrokes, dominate the composition and take center stage. The title “New Beginning” was chosen because white contains all colors. This implies that anything now seems possible. Something new can and may emerge. Together with the rust tone, which symbolizes warmth, and the black, which represents grounding and depth, all signs point to a “New Beginning.” This abstract painting in landscape format, measuring 70x100x5 cm in black and white, is the third painting in the New Beginning series.
The painting is framed in a black shadow-joint wooden frame. It can be easily mounted on the wall with two screws and dowels.
